Fiber Freaks Unite!

I love fiber! There, I said it. Whether I'm knitting, trying to spin (I haven't quite got the hang of it yet), or coming up with new colorways and color recipes for my yarn and roving, I can always be found doing something yarny. Is "yarny" a word?! I began dyeing a little over a year ago using Black Cherry Kool-Aid. It was fun and I loved the results. I moved on to acid dyes and multicolored combinations from there. I love experimenting with color, seeing how the colorways knit up and how the finished piece looks. I love spending time on all my fiber-related pursuits. if nothing else it keeps me occupied so I don't keep buying rings on Etsy!

Yarn & Friends sells hand-dyed yarns and rovings as well as craft-related accessories like stitch markers. This is a hank of fingering weight. The Black Cherry was actually very bright and rather cheerful.





Spring always energizes me. Each spring I get excited and gear up for a new slew of craft projects. I'm about to abandon a pair of selbuvotter mittens in favor of some spring knits. I have some lovely dark green Takhi Stacy wool/silk waiting to be knit up into the cardigan on the cover of the Spring Interweave Knits. My dog Spike is begging me for his very own Weasley sweater. Don't worry, Spike is kept far away from my yarn.

In anticipation of spring I have a big butterfly thing going on right now. I got a butterfly tattoo last weekend after 17 years of waffling about getting one. I won't show a photo here because some people are turned off by tattoos, but I'll just say that after almost 40 years Barbie and I finally have something in common.




























I continued my butterfly theme when I discovered this website. Giant comic-book geek that I am, I just had to give it a try. You can be a superhero too!
